  - Split the monolithic patch-aa into separate patches
  - Refactor some patches into ${REINPLACE_CMD} invocations
  - Install the program ourselves (it is more straightforward than
    fixing the vendor's Makefile)
  - Use SUB_FILES=pkg-message
