Remember to set environment varible XMODIFIERS:
 csh/tcsh: setenv XMODIFIERS @im=XSIM
 sh/bash:  export XMODIFIERS='@im=XSIM'
and set LANG, LC_CTYPE to zh_CN.EUC.
